Old Enemies and Friends. . 35

Darkness filled the skies as three hooded figures walked the cobbled streets of the city of Prafa. They watched as the people around them moved along like zombies through the night going no where. On every corner stood a guard in Winterhaven or Darkshade colors armed keeping the people moving. Athene peeked from under her hood to watch a young girl stumble into a wall then down the street. She reached for Adams arm and grabbed it.
" That was Ava." She whispered.
" Who?" Asked Lucian Petri beside her. Lucian had been sent by the vampires of Yadessa to help find their king and free Prafa.
" She's my uncles butlers daughter. We should help her."
" We can't." Adam held on to her. " If we do, they will know we're not like the others. We have to get back to Luther's old blacksmith shop. It's the only safe place in Prafa to hide."
" Hide?" Athene looked up into Adams eyes confused. " We should go to the main house and find Valkar and uncle. They could be in danger."
" Just the three of us?" He looked up ahead as they passed two guards watching them shuffle past slowly. Once they passed them and were beyond their hearing he finished his explanation. " What do we do about all these invaders? Do you have a spell that can fix all this?"
Athene started to protest but realized the truth of what he was saying and shook her head no.
" I didn't think so." He said. " We're here to learn just what's going on here and how we can stop it. We can't do it if we're captured and put under the same spell everyone else is under. First we get somewhere safe then we have to figure out just what the spell is and how to break it. You have any ideas?"
" I might." She said. " We need someone under the spell so I can see if I can unravel it's magic. There's Luther's old place ahead."
As they slowly got close to the shop they noticed the guards at the corner on the street in front of the empty shop. Lucian looked over to Adam as if to ask what now.
" How are we getting past them?" He asked nodding toward the guards.
" I don't know." Adam whispered slowing down to let others pass them. " We have to distract them or get them to move."
The four vampires on guard watch the street whispering to each other as the crowd moved along. Suddenly one guard pointed down the street and shouted something to his companions. Three of the guards took to their heels and ran down the street after whatever their captain had given them orders to chase. The captain walked out to the street to stand watching just beyond Athene, Adam and Lucian.
" If you hurry you can get in before they get back." He whispered. " Hurry, they won't find anything and won't be gone long."
" Who are you?" Adam asked stunned.
" Loyal to my king." He said. " Now go! I'll be in to see you later."
Looking around to be sure no more guards were there to see them the three hurried to the back of the shop and made their way in to safety. Athene and Adam knew the house from earlier days in Prafa and knew Luther once had certain places where he had hidden Lady Angela from her husband Balthazar Gaelich. They found that room still intact and settled down to talk.
" Who was that?" Lucian asked.
" One of us I hope." Adam told them. " It looks like we may not be so alone here."
" Good." Athene smiled. " We're going to need all the help we can get if we're going to free Valkar and Prafa."
" What should we be doing first?" Lucian asked.
" That depends on our new friend." Athene sat down after taking off her cloak. " We need to get to someone with some powerful magic. Someone that can help break the spell."

Dressed in the colors of Remus, Aggar moved along the halls of the house of Thorn on his nightly patrol. He checked each door on his floor. If it was unlocked. he was to check to and see if was occupied. If light burned in the room he would knock to see who was using the room. Security here in Remus was high. Raf trusted no one. His new master wouldn't let him. At all times Seith Halador, a dark elf seemed to be at his side whispering in his ear. Aggar knew he was the real power in Remus. Obviously one of Talsara Darkshades men sent by her to control Raf. Aggar wondered how Talsara and Tayor managed to make an alliance. Just what brought those two power mad fiends together. Aggar didn't know that much about Talsara, but he did know Tayor Larin and his history in Winterhaven. He knew of all his plots to overthrow the council in the past with only Insa there to stop him. But now it seems his plot had worked and he had taken the city. But he didn't stopping there. With the help of the dark queen together they had taken a large part of the northern continent and Aggar wasn't sure they had enough power to stop them. But for all of Keanna, they would try.
It was very quiet as he made his rounds in the Thorn home. He went from room to room checking each door and finding most of them empty or locked. He stopped at one room seeing a light burning from under the door and listened. He heard voices inside. It was Seith the dark elf and someone else he didn't recognized.
" You tell your lord the city is ours." The dark elf said. " Baron Thorn is no longer a problem. He is dead."
Shock ran through Aggar as he listened. The bastards had killed Baron Thorn. He wondered what Raf's involvement in his fathers death was. Had he been the one to kill him? Keya will be so upset when she hears the news. Aggar listened on.
" What next?" Seith asked.
" Lord Larin wants you to move on Yadessa." He heard. " Since your closer to Vasagi then our forces in Prafa, it falls on you to take the city."
" I understand." Seith said. " What of Raf? How long must I put up with him?"
" You can kill him once he is no longer of any use to us." The voice said. " But not before. Have him lead his dogs into Vasagi. That way the Werewolves will be blamed for the invasion. It will cause descention in the ranks of those that oppose us."
" What of the Wolves Lair?" Seith asked. " When do I attack them?"
" You don't." The voice said. " Sarella will take care of the Werewolf capital. You just get us the Vampires. When will you be ready to move?"
" Two days and I will have Raf and his men at the castle." He heard. " With a little luck, Raf will fall in the battle.
" Be quick then." The voice said. " My lord and the queen are anxious to finish this and move on to the southern continent. Then the rest of Keanna."
" But what of the dragons?" Seith asked. " Sooner or later they will join the others against us."
" Lord Larin says he has taken care of them." He heard. " They won't be bothering us."
" It would be wise not to count the most powerful entities on Keanna out." Seith said. " Polan did and look what happened to him. You tell Lord Larin and Talsara Darkshade to never underestimate the dragons of Keanna. They will be back. We should be ready. You of all should know this."
For a few seconds neither of the two in the room spoke. Aggar stained to hear any sound from the room.
" Perhaps your right." Aggar heard someone move closer to the door. " Something will be done."
Aggar had heard enough. Quickly he walked away before anyone in the room could exit the room and catch him listening in. Tof would need to hear about what he had just heard. He had to find a quiet place where he could message back to Tof and report. Who was Seith talking to Aggar wondered. And what did he mean when he said he should know? Then there was Raf. It seemed they planned to use him as a sacrifice. Aggar knew what that could mean. It could possibly start the Werewolf Vampire war all over again if a werewolves were to attack a vampire city again. This was all way beyond what Aggar could do alone. He would need help here and fast.

[ Where are we going?] Ariel asked as she and Insa soared over the far mountains of frigid Kensor. On her back wrapped snugly in furs rode her brother Adanar keeping warm from her body heat.
[ To find someone.] Insa sent. [ Or I should say someones.]
[ I don't understand.] Adanar sent as his breath blow out stream. [ Who could live way up here?]
[ There are people here brother.] She answered. [ We have allies way up this far. I just don't understand how the people of Torcin can help us.]
[ We're not looking for Torcin.] Insa sent to them. [ But we do seek friends here. Friends like us.]
Ariel didn't understand who he was talking about but she trusted the smoke dragon so she stayed on his wing. Below them she saw the great mountains of Kensor. She remembered her last visit north when they meet young Xander and his brother Drew in the ice city of Torcin. She wonder how they were doing in Torcin. Had the Kensi come back? Was the city even there any longer?
[ Yes.] Insa sent to her. [ Torcin is safe. Xander and Drew are fine though we won't have time to visit just now.]
[ Insa.] She sent. [ Who are we looking for here?]
[ Let's just say an old friend for now.] Insa flew in closer. [ But we should hurry. We can't stay away to long.]
Together the two dragons dropped lower to search. they looked at every hill and valley. They searched caves and crevasses but found nothing. The weather was growing, changing for the worst which wouldn't have much affect on the dragons but Adanar wouldn't do to well in the oncoming blizzard.
[ I'm fine sister.] He said reassuring her. [ We should go on searching.]
[ No.] Insa sent back. [ This storm could last for days. You can't stay out in this weather.]
[ Then change it.] Adanar smiled. [ You are a weather dragon are you not?]
[ Yes I am.] She answered. [ But you don't understand how weather works. Yes I can change or stop this storm. But if I do, it will come back a hundred times worst and there are cities up here that would suffer under the storm. It would be better to let the storm run it's natural course.]
[ Then we return south?]
[ No.] Insa sent. [ You get to meet Xander and visit Torcin while we go on searching. With some luck, it won't that us that long and we can go back home.]
Ariel looked up at the grey clouds filling the skies as they turned west. Her magic gave her a feel of the temperatures and air pressures in the area and something felt strange about this storm. Like it wasn't so natural after all.
[ There!] Insa sent. [ That's the glacier Torcin is built into. Follow me down.]
Spiraling down the two dragon dropped down to land on the ice plane not far from the cliff. Adanar climbed off Ariel's back then Insa roared to let the people of Torcin know they had dragon visitors. After shifting back to human they all walked to the entrance to the ice city. Adanar was amazed at the beauty of the ice cravings and all the beautiful art shown in the halls of the entry way. Being of the forest of the southern part of the northern continent, Adanar had seen snow before. In fact every winter, but not like here. He had never seen anything like this before. It seemed so alien. There was no trees or grass. No flowers, not ever weeds grew here. This bothered Adanar very much. Kensor looked beautiful in white, but it was also dead with no life coming from the ground. This was not the place for a forest elf.
As they stopped before a wall at the end of the hall, the floor began to vibrate. Ariel smiled. Being the only one of the trio that had been in Torcin before. She know just what the vibrations were. Insa and Adanar looked around in wonder as the wall opened and Xander, now six feet stepped out dressed in a heavy hooded coat smiling.
" ARIEL!!!" He ran over and hugged her. " It's good to see you!"
" Look at you Xander." She laughed holding on to him. " You've grown so much! How have you been?"
" I'm nineteen now and keeper of the Snowdogs." He held her hands as they talked. " Viggo will be happy to see you. Who are your friends?"
" This." She indicated to her left. " Is Insa the smoke dragon. Headmaster of the Andrake Academy and once leader of the Winterhaven Council."
" Pleased to meet you." Xander extended his hand and shook hands with Insa.
" Pleased to meet you to." Insa smiled." It's rather beautiful here."
" This." Ariel pushed Adanar forward. " Is my brother. Prince Adanar Jahaan Tsaer Eventide. He's why we're here."
" Welcome both of you to Torcin." Xander shook Adanar's hand gripping his forearm. " What can we do for you this time?"
" Adanar needs a warm place to stay while we're here." Ariel explained. " I thought you might be able to entertain him until we're finish with what we have to do."
" What's that?"
" We're looking for a friend." Insa told him.
" Up here?" Xander looked at the two dragons confused. " We're miles away from any other cities. This must be some friend your looking for."
" Indeed he is." Insa needed. " He's very special."
" Of course he can stay. We're glad to have him with us." Xander took out his blaststone and spoke into it calling his younger brother to come up and greet Adanar. They talked for a few minutes until Drew arrived to be introduced to the newcomers. Once he arrived, Drew like his brother was thrilled to see Ariel. He kissed her excited to see here again. Xander explained that Adanar would be visiting for a little while and that Drew should take him down to see the city. He suggested Adanar might like to meet Viggo and his brothers and sister. Nodding Drew told them he'd be happy to give him a tour and opened the elevator and bid them good bye.
" There's something I need to talk with you about." Xander pushed his hood up then led Insa and Ariel back out onto the ice field to explain. As they walked out lightning flashed through the dark snow heavy skies. Ariel could feel the storm building. there was a blizzard on it's way.
" Ariel you've been to Kensor before but it was more during our winter time."
" Really?" She said. " It seems colder now then I remember from that visit."
" That's the problem." He said. " This is suppose to be our summer season. Yes, we have storms but nothing like the storm you see building now. Somethings wrong. It's been way to cold for this time of year. Is there any way you can check and make sure there isn't magic or something strange happening?"
" Of course we can." Insa assured him. " Give us a little time and we'll see what we can find."
" Thank you." Xander smiled. " We'll keep your brother busy while your gone. Good luck."
Insa and Ariel waved as Xander walked back into the ice cave. They walked out onto the ice field the wind howling around them.
" What do you think?" Insa asked.
" I think he's right." She said looking up into the clouds, " There's something about this storm that doesn't feel right. I can feel how a storm works and this one's full of magic. Dark magic."
" Then let's go see what we can find." Insa spread his cloak and shifted to his dragon self. He roared sending a stream of smoke into the sky then leaped into the air. Ariel watched him for a second as he rose higher into the sky. She closed her eyes for a second and sensed the magical weather patterns moving around in the air.
"OK Arrn. Let's see what's got you so riled up."
With that she shifted and took off following Insa into the storm.

Deep in the frozen Kensor mountains there was a cave once inhabited by the high kings of the snowmen. Great furniture craved of ice and snow once filled the great halls. Now only shattered remnants remained except for one huge throne in the kings throne room. Sitting on the throne surrounded by snow men sat a beautiful woman with blue skin and icy eyes. This was Clea the ice maiden. Once almost bride of Kearn the winter god now almost a goddess in her own right. Clea sat quietly contemplating her past. Her old life and her husband Jona. She thought about the life they once had and the peace and love she knew she would never know again. All because of Kearn and what he had done to her. All the cold hate he had instilled in her that froze her heart so she could never again feel the warmth of love from anyone. Anger began to overcome her as she remembered the warmth of Jona's love. The heat of his passion as he would hold her at night and make love to her. She would never feel his touch again all because of those damned dragons. Oh how she hated them and blamed them for what she had become. It was their fault Kearn had come to Bravosa. Their fault for not saving her from that damned frozen fiend that had done this to her. Now she wanted revenge. She wanted everyone to feel as cold as she did and she planned to start up here in the north. Clea planned to take the north city by city starting with Torcin the closet city to her icy home. She had already started by turning up the cold. Now she would gather her Snow men and the Kensi and destroy all the warm bloods in her way. She would make this world as cold as her heart.

As Ariel and Insa winged there way through the raging storm, magic made a path for them. It wasn't a spell. Insa's senses would see that like a golden rope flowing through the sky. it was more like a natural magic. A magic made deep inside someones soul. A cold frigid soul that was full of hate. Ariel could feel the hate in the magic she followed. But it was a thin trail. She didn't think it would last very longer. Not long enough to find the one behind it. But she would track it as far as she could.
[ Who could this be?] Insa sent to Ariel. [ The Snow men?]
[ No.] Ariel said. [ Not the Snow men or the Kensi. The Snow men are magic but this is beyond anything they could do and the Kensi are savages. They don't have magic at all.]
[ Then who could cause a storm like this?]
[ If I didn't know better.] She sent. [ I'd say it was Icicle. But he's back at home and he would never do anything like this. There is one more possibility. But it's impossible. He can't be doing this.]
[ Who?]
[ Kearn.] Ariel said. [ The winter god defeated and imprisoned by Alee. Could he have escaped his prison?]
[ Kearn was very powerful.] Insa thought about what had happened in Bravosa. [ But he's been imprisoned in the heart of a volcano and I don't think there's any way he could get out of there without help and neither Talsara or Tayor could possibly survive there. It's not Kearn.]
{ I'm losing the trail.] She sent. [ It ends somewhere in those mountains.]
[ That mountain range? It's enormous.] Insa sent. [ It would take us days to search every cave or crevasse. Even with magic.]
[ Then what do you suggest?] Ariel asked.
[ We find the one we came here for.] The smoke dragon said. [ He may know something. He's very wise.]
[ You still don't want to tell me who we're looking for.]
[ We're looking for an old friend of our.] He told her. [ We're looking for Valen and his clan.]
Ariel remembered Valen and the four dragons in his clan. How could she forget. They were the first dragon clan on Keanna. Fathers to them all. Jade the earth dragon, Fiero of fire, Arik of air and Maxius of water. And they're leader Valen the golden dragon first of them all.
[ How do we find them?] She asked.
[ Simply.] He said. [ We head for that plateau and land. Then we call. They'll hear and answer us.]
Ahead of them was a barren snowy plateau. The two dragons made their way down to it and made a soft landing as snow swirled around them.
[ Ready?] Insa asked beside her.
[ Yes.] She said. They both took a deep breath then just as they were about to roar they heard a voice in their heads say.
[ Don't.]

Dawn found Ryel, Emrel, Aron, Orek and Finn on the road deeper in to Fay Shea. Aspara Bough was their destination and to save Hema and the fairy queen their mission. It had been a hard night running from Goblins and Troll and anything else that served Lord Larin and the Dark queen. They had thought all opposition had marched out with Sarella but they were wrong. She had left many there in Fay Shrea to hold the faire lands in check. But here they were now outside of Aspara Bough ready for whatever was there waited for them.
“Tis worse than I thought.” Finn said as they watched Aspara Bough and slapped an ant off his arm. “I expected to find Goblins here, but not dark elves. How are we gonna get them out of there?”
“We’ll need an army.” Aron whispered.” We can’t even get close with all of Darkshade here.”
“Darkshade?” Orek asked. “How do you know those are Darkshade elves.”
“That’s Elan's house colors" Aron pointed to the elves in the city. I’d know them anywhere.”
“An army you say?” Ryel looked at the ground. There he saw an ant hill covered with thousands of black ants. “That’s a good idea.”
“What’s a good idea?” Aron looked at them confused. “I’m not sure I know what you mean.”
“It’s simple.” Ryel smiled. “We get an army that the elves can’t possibly fight and scare them off.”
“And where will we be getting this army?” Emrel asked. “There are just us here.”
“No there’s an army here.” Ryel told them. “But it all depends of how well you two can control and use your magic.”
“What army are ya talkin about?” Finn asked. “Are we to just conjure one to help us?”
“As a matter of fact.” Ryel said as he picked up an ant and held it out to them. “Yes, that’s just what I mean. Would it be possible to transform them? I’ll try controlling them if you can change them. Can you fashion a spell that would work?”
“Maybe.” Aron thought for a second looking at Emrel. “It could work.”
“You don’t expect the ants to actually fight do you?” Emrel asked. “They’re just for show right?”
“I don’t know.” Ryel told them. “If the elves attack they might have to fight. It depends on the elves reaction.”
“Ryel if the ants attack they’ll tear the elves to pieces just like they do any natural enemy.” Orek said. “I don’t think you’ll be able to control so many.”
“I won’t have to.” He said. “All I plan to do is talk with the queen. She’ll control the others. And I can’t control them. I ask for their help. I could control them but that’s not my way. I find that animals controlled are usually angry when I release them. So I learned long ago to talk to them. Get them to cooperate. It’s the best way.”
“The spell will take some time to fashion.” Emrel told them. “And Aron and I will need to meditate to gather magic. It’s a good thing Fay Shrea is such a magical place, we can gather magic from all around us.”
“What can Finn and I do while we wait?” Orek asked eager to help however they could.
“Keep watch on Aspara Bough.” Ryel told them. “I don’t want any surprises when we’re ready.”
“I need ta find a way make sure the faire lass Hema is alright.” Finn told Ryel. “The lass saved my arse and sacrificed herself while I got away. I promised ta come back for her.”
“You can try.” Ryel said. “But I don’t want the elves out here looking for us before we’re ready.”
Ryel left Orek and Finn to go and do something unbelievable. He had to talk to the queen ant and get her help in saving the fairies. But while he did that, Finn had to find a way to at least signal Hema that he was back with help.
“So what do you have in mind?” Orek asked as they sat and watched the faire palace.
“ I can’t go in there without giving away our position.” He said. While they watched, the dark elves marched and did maneuvers in the courtyard in front of them. The watched as the sun beamed down shining its light on the march.
“If I can’t go in.” Finn asked. “What can I do? What magic can I…?”
Then Finn looked back up at the sun beams coming through the trees overhead and had an idea.
“Of course!” He jumped up. “The perfect leprechaun magic! That’s it!”
“What?” Orek asked. Quickly he pulled Finn back down out of sight. “What are you thinking?”
“Something only a leprechaun can do.” He smiled. “Watch.”
Finn walked over to where a shaft of light streaked down from the sky. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a handful of gold dust. He whispered something and blew the dust in the sunbeam then stepped back. As they watched the gold shimmered and traveled up the beam into the clouds, then spread into a rainbow which ran down shined on the palace. As the rainbow hit the palace Finn closed his eyes and concentrated. Through leprechaun magic he could see everyone in the palace. He saw the throne room where no one sat on the throne. He looked further and saw all the dark elves wandering the building. Deeper inside and towards the dungeon he found Hema. She was in chains laying still in the same cell as Queen Nuala. Finn held his breath afraid she was dead until finally he saw her move.
“I found her.” He said. “She’s weak and chained up with the queen.”
“Can you talk to her?” Orek asked.
“No. Even if I could I doubt the lass would hear.” He said turning away as the rainbow faded. “But she’s alive and I’m gonna get her free.”
“Good.” Orek moved to a closer position where he could watch the city. “I’m glad she’s OK. Now we watch and make sure none of these dark bastards come up here and find us.”

As Emrel and Aron talked trying to put together a usable spell, Ryel carefully sat amongst the ants near the ant hill. He reached down and let an ant crawl on his finger then lifted it up to look at it sitting on his finger.
[Friend.] He sent. [I seek an audience with your queen. Can you deliver my message please? It is important.]
[QUEEN IN EGG CHAMBER. I SEND MESSAGE.]
[Our thanks to you.] Ryel put the ant back down and watched as it scurried back down into the ant hill. He waited hoping the reply wouldn’t take long. In all his years with animals this was the first time he had tried communicating with ants. He always thought it was possible but other then his pet spider and an occasional butterfly Ryel had never really tried talking with ants before. It was good to know he could communicate with them to. As he waited a winged ant crawled out of the hill and took flight. It flew up and around then made a landing on his shoulder and tilted its head at him.
[I AM A PRINCESS OF THIS HILL SOON TO TAKE FLIGHT AND ESTABLISH MY OWN HILL. I WILL SPEAK FOR OUR QUEEN. WHAT DO YOU WISH BIG ONE?]
[There is trouble in the human world.] Ryel sent. [And we need your help.]
[WHY SHOULD WE HELP YOU? BIG ONES HAVE NEVER DONE ANYTHING FOR US EXCEPT WALK ON US. WE OWE YOU NO FAVORS.]
[I know you don’t.] Ryel sent sadly. [And I grieve for the way we have treated your kind. Our ignorance of your world saddens me. All I can do is promise you lands where you will be safe. A deal will be stuck where your kind can live without our presence if you wish. That is all I can offer.]
[YOU SEEM SINCERE BIG ONE. YOU ARE THE FIRST TO EVER TRY AND EXPLAIN OR TALK WITH US. VERY WELL, MY QUEEN WILL HELP YOU. WHAT DO YOU WISH?]
[Thank your gracious queen.] Ryel projected feelings of gratitude to the princess. [We need your armies. Here’s want we want to do]

With a call out the queen summoned her drones. They came running to answer her call. Soon there was a large group gathered around them. Ryel and his friends were given room to walk so they wouldn’t accidentally step on any of the queen’s subject. Once his army was gathered and the princess was on his shoulder ready, it was Emrel and Aron’s turn. They had gathered magic and was ready with their spell.
“Have the ants make a ring around Aspara Bough and we’ll be ready to cast.” Aron told Ryel then walked over and stood with Emrel. “We don’t know how long the spell will last. But it should last at least a day, so we should hurry.”
As they stood and watched the ants moved out to surround the city, they were amazed. It was like a ribbon of black moving in a wave out east and west around the city. When they were in place the princess told Ryel and he nodded to the two young mages.
Aron reached out and took Emrel’s hands as they begin together to cast their spell.

POWERS OF LIGHT AND POWERS OF CHANGE.
WE CALL ON YOU TO HELP US ARRANGE.
FROM ANTS TO MEN AN ARMY WE MAKE.
THIS CITY OF FAERIE HELP US RETAKE.
WITH GUILE AND DECEPTION HERE ON OUR SIDE.
GIVE WEAPONS AND STRENGTH WE FIGHT WITH PRIDE.

All through the ring of ants a shimmering light rippled and moved as the magic took hold. From small bodied ants men began to grow dressed in black armor. They were armed with swords and crossbows, with pikes and war hammers. Ryel looked out at the fierce army he was now in command of. Suddenly from behind him he heard a sweet voice.
“Your orders my general?”
Ryel turned an there stood the princess. She had jet black hair and a beautiful exotic face with almond shaped eyes. She was dressed in an elaborate black armor with a silken cape flowing behind her. On her head she wore a black ring with what looked like two antennae rising up.
“Princess?” He stared.”
“You my call me Noelle.” She smiled. “How do you like your army?”
“It looks like a fierce noble army.” He said. “With an enchanting lady general to lead it.”
“You lead this army.” Noelle told him. “All we ask is that you keep your promise to us.”
“You have the word of Prince Ryel Tanyi Voron Eventide.” Ryel bowed to Noelle and took her hand and kissed it
“Ours to.” The others nodded thanking her.
“Then let’s go win back your city.” Noelle smiled. “What are your orders General Ryel?”
“Noelle, Finn and I will go in and demand a parlay. I expect they’ll laugh at us.” Ryel said. “That will change once they see our forces.”
“I don’t like it.” Emrel said worried. “They could take you as captives or just start shooting arrows as you walk in.”
“She’s right, Ryel.” Aron added. “Dark elves aren’t the most predictable of races. They could just attack you and Noelle.”
“Then what would you suggest?” He asked looking at each of them waiting for an answer. “This is the best I can come up with at the moment.”
“If there’s one thing I’ve learned from my queen it’s that you move from a place of power.”Noelle said.
“What’s that mean?” Ryel asked.
“Think about it?” She looked at each of them. “Your father was king of Eventide, what would he do? Negotiate?”
“Not with an invading force he wouldn’t.” Ryel thought like father and Evindal. He wasn't sure what they would do, but he knew what they wouldn’t do. “Father would lead a team in and take them by force. But do we have that kind of force? Will your drones follow my orders?”
“My queen has given orders that we, you and I are in command.” Noelle explained. “They will follow you as if the queen had ordered them herself. This is your command Ryel.”
“I guess you are king now brother.” Emrel smiled. “It’s time to act like one.”
Ryel turned and stepped away from his friends. This way a great decision he had to make. Should he fight? Did he really have a choice? Queen Nuala is an ally of Eventide and it was Eventide's duty to come to her aid in times of trouble and there could be no worse trouble than this.
“OK.” Ryel turned back to the others. “If we’re going to do this, let’s do it right. We start by securing the city. I want all exits out of Aspara Bough secure. No one in, no one out. Once the city is secure, we move in. Finn, you and Orek take five warriors and free the queen. Get her to safety here near the mound we’ll draw the elves away from the palace so you can get in.”
“How do you plan to do that?” Aron asked.
“I’m glad you asked.” Ryel reached over and put his arm around Aron’s shoulder. “How are you with illusion?”

The courtyard of Aspara Bough was crammed with dozens of Darkshade warriors dressed for battle. The used wooden swords and lances as they fought so none of them would get hurt but real weapons could be seen there for easy access. On a dais sat Tokra Orbryn the captain left in charge when Sarella left for the advance on the other elven kingdoms. As of now Elond had fallen and they had moved on to the kingdom of Dree where Talsara had hoped to steal their magic just as she was doing in Eventide.
Bored Captain Orbryn watched his men spar back and forth when suddenly he heard a horn sound. He looked up to see a legion of armed men marching into Aspara Bough dressed in black armor led by two young elves in blue and a woman also in black armor. He stood and stepped out and watched their approach. The horses came to a halt in front of the dais.
“Laev Selkerdrim!” The lead elf in blue salutes. “Our queen sends you her thanks for a job well done.”
“Laev to you rider.” Tokra nodded. “I was not expecting visitors.”
“Talsara’s wants Queen Nuala sent to her.” He said. “She has plans for the fairy queen. I’ve been sent to retrieve her.”
“My orders were to keep her and the other one here for Sarella when she returns.” Tokra stepped down and looked over the warriors in black. “Strange armor your men wear.”
“Yes indeed.” The second blue garbed elf said. “Made especially for us. An elite legion trained to respond to orders given only by our Queen Talsara Darkshade.”
“Yes we were.” The first elf said. He snapped his fingers. A group of seven soldiers moved off from the group. “We don’t answer to Sarella. Nor do I care about any orders she left behind. These men will bring Queen Nuala out for transport to Talsara. If you would please have them escorted to Nuala and any others you’re holding.”
Captain Tokra looked up at the three on the horses looking smugly at him giving him orders. This black legion he had never heard of but there were many things Queen Talsara did that was kept secret so an unknown regiment was no surprise to him. But something just didn’t seem right.
“You.” He called to one of his lieutenants. “Take them to Queen Nuala.”
The Lieutenant saluted and led the black garbed soldiers away into the palace. Captain Tokra turned back to the blue armored elves.
“What are your names Captain?” He asked. “And what city do you hail from?”
“I am called Voron and he is Ruven from far Blackash.”
“And the lovely lady?” Tokra stepped up to Noelle’s horse. She gazed down at him with an annoyed look.
“My name is none of your affair insolent one.” She looked away. “You call your superior captain? Do you not see the rank he wears is that of a Colonel?”
Tokra looked closer and saw the crest of the eagle worn on Vorons helmet. His eyes lit up in surprise and he quickly snapped to attention and saluted Voron.
“My apologies Sir.” He said. “I did not see your insignia in black on the helm.”
“At ease Captain.” Voron sat forward in his saddle. “Your offense is pardoned, this time. Just hurry your men along will you.”
“At once sir!” Tokra ran and ordered men to go hurry the escort up then yelled for his troops to get in formation.
It wasn’t long before Queen Nuala and Hema was brought out with her escort to stand with Colonel Voron and his troop. Voron thanked Tokra for his speed as another one of Tokra’s men came running out and whispered something in his ear.
“Hold on Colonel.” He shouted. “Aspara Bough is surrounded by your troops. What is the meaning of this?”
“Your relieved Captain.” Voron told him. “Your services are no longer needed in Aspara Bough.”
“You’re not of Darkshade!” Captain Tokra pulled his sword. “Queen Talsara didn’t send you here! To arms men! ATTACK!!”
All hell broke loose as Darkshade men grabbed weapons and attacked Ryel and his forces. With axe in hand Orek grabbed the queen and Hema and with his guards they quickly rushed the two out to the mound where Emrel was waiting.
As the fighting started Ryel, Aron and Noelle leaped from their horses and jumped into the battle. Tokra swung his sword in the air and closed with Ryel giving him a chance to arm himself.
“Who are you really?” Ryel and Tokra circled each other ready to fight.
“I’m Ryel Tanyl Voron Eventide, a son of Eventide.”Ryel snarled. “Your queen invaded my home, poisoned my mother and imprisoned my people and you can believe I will do everything I can to make her pay for all she’s done. This is just the beginning of her end.”
“You’ll never defeat the Darkshade’s.” Tokra yelled charging. “Not now, not ever!!”
In a rage the two elves swords met with a clang. Quickly separating Tokra swung out and hit Ryel in the jaw drawing blood. Wiping his mouth Ryel stabbed forward at Tokra’s chest missing but coming around with a kick, he hit his side knocking him back. Ryel smiled as Tokra dived back in bringing his sword in high as Ryel ducked and pivoted around for a strike at his back. With elven speed Tokra dropped to the ground and rolled away coming back up ready to fight.
“You fight well young Eventide.” Tokra smiled as they moved around.
“I fight for something real.” Ryel said. “For my home and family. Not for that power mad bitch!”
“Power mad! I’ll show you power mad!” Gritting his teeth Tokra charged Ryel swinging his sword high to cut into his neck. Remembering his training with his brothers, Ryel did a perfect roundhouse kick and swept Tokra’s feet from under him sending him crashing to the ground dropping his sword. With a thud Tokra hit the ground stunned.
“Yield and you and what men you have left live to see your families again.” Ryel advanced on Tokra ready to deliver the death blow.
“Never!!!”
In a flash a dagger came from behind him and went flying at Ryel’s chest. Suddenly out of nowhere Aron came flying through the air and blocked the dagger that sank deep into his shoulder and he fell to the ground.
“Noooooooo!!!” Ryel dived forward sword stabbing down into Tokra’s chest slicing his heart in two and killing him. Quickly Ryel ran to Aron and lifted him into his arms.
“The fight.” Aron said. “Finished the fight. I’ll be fine.”
Ryel looked up to see Noelle and her men battling the rest of the Darkshade elves. He saw how her men swarmed each man in the way insects fought and finished them quickly. This battle was all but over.
“It’s done Aron.” He told his friend. “We won. Aspara Bough is safe and so is the queen but your hurt. I have to get you to Emrel for healing.”
“It’s just a flesh wound. I’ll be fine.” With that Aron passed out into a deep sleep.

As Emrel used fairy dust to heal Aron, Ryel sat and watched. He thought about what had happened after Aron had saved his life. All the rest of Tokra's men where defeated and those that lived sent to the dungeons of Aspara Bough. Queen Nuala had thanked them for coming to the rescue and promised Noelle a piece of land in Fay Shrea where no one would ever go without out the queen’s permission.
Now Finn and Ryel sat with the others and waited for Hema and Aron to wake.
“Relax Ryel.” Emrel patted his shoulder. “He’ll be fine. The fairy dust I used to heal him will have him right as rain.”
“You should have seen him fight, Emrel.” Ryel said. “He looked just like a young Zaoir fighting beside me. And the way he flew in there to save me. Who is he really?’
“This is Elan Darkshade’s best friend and mate.” She said.
“This is the Aron you and Adanar wrote about?” He asked surprised. Emrel nodded with a smile
“Ryel we were so wrong about them.”
“No you weren’t” Aron said opening his eyes. “We were horrible to you and the others at school. I’m sorry.”
“It’s OK.” Emrel assured him. “Those were different days”
“And Elan and I were different people then.” He smiled at them. “But no more. We can’t live like that anymore. Elan swore to me we would be together forever and I believe him. But Queen Talsara will kill us both if she ever gets her hands on us.”
“He’s her son.”Ryel said. “She won’t hurt him.”
“How do you think the Goblin’s got us Ryel?” Emrel asked him. “It was her. And she was going to have Aron killed for loving her son, we know that to be true.”
“And Elan?” Ryel asked them.
“He disobeyed her.” Aron told them as he sat up. “We were never going to deliver Emrel to her. We were about to go to Emrel and Adanar and warn them when the Goblins took us. We have to find him. Make sure he’s safe.”
“We’ll do what we can Aron.” Ryel passed his some water to drink. “But we have no idea where he is or where to look.”
“I can find him.” Aron took a deep drink. “I love him. I’ll find him. No matter where he is.”
"Then somehow we will." Ryel stood sm8iling at Aron. He looked to his sister. "Emrel, I need to talk to you a minute."
"Just a second." She took the canteen from Aron. "Get some rest. We may have a long way to go from here."
Aron nodded as she followed Ryel off then he settled himself to go back to sleep and dream of Elan and somewhere they could have peace.
"What is it?" She asked.
"Have you seen any other elves while you've been here in Fay Shrea"
"Other then Darkshade, No." Emrel gave him a curious look. " Why do you ask?"
"Never mind." He said as Orek approached them. "It's not important. Just curious. I'm going to talk with Noelle. Stay with Aron and the faeries and get some rest. Once they're rested we'll be moving out."
"Why didn't you ask her?" Orek asked. "Isn't the ninth Eventide why we came here?"
"That was just a dream." Ryel said. "A crazy far fetched dream."
"And the rose?" The dwarf asked him. "Was that a dream too."
"I'm not sure what to think anymore." Ryel thought back to the night Hasmira had paid him the visit. A dark elf giving him warning? He wasn't sure if he could trust her. "But we'll keep our eyes open. Come on. I need to talk to Noelle. We could use her peoples help in getting the rest of the dark elves out of Fay Shrea. Maybe the ants can be the protectors of these lands."
"That's a good idea." Orek smiled. "I'm sure Queen Nuala's magic can extend the spell Aron and Emrel cast. It would be in both there interest."

”Wake up lass.” Finn said. Hema blinked a few times the opened her eyes. She looked up at him confused the recognized him.
“Finn?”
“Yes Missy.” He smiled. “Tis me. Your hero.”
“Where are we?” She asked looking around seeing the forest and the castle behind them. Noelle was there watching with a few of her drones.
“Aspara Bough.” He said. “And it’s safe now. I told ya I’d be back.”

Invasion. 34

The kingdom of Dree is a beautiful place with a lavish forest full of some of the most exotic and wonderful flowers, plants and animals. It was located on the shore of Shyr, a great clear blue ocean and home of the Mer clan the Dylani.  Dreesport the capital city was said to be almost as beautiful as the magic city of Winterhaven because of its high spirals and gleaming buildings. Dree is inhabited by two types of people. The Coral Elves on land and the Mer in the ocean ruled by their separate kings.
Orym Dree on land who was actually a Coral elf, able to breathe underwater and Caldar Dylani deep below the water in his underwater city of the Mer. They were both happy people living in peace with each other fishing the lake and farming and tending the forest until today. Today they were about to be invaded by Tayor Larin and Talsara Darkshade's forces. Today war would come to Dree.

The sun shined softly through his bedroom window as Orym  Dree woke up. He rolled over and looked at his beautiful queen laying next to him and smiled. How lucky he was he thought. Three young children, a wonderful wife and other then those damned goblins that kept sneaking in to hunt his forest, things were good in Dreesport. He kissed Phaerl gently so as not to wake her and slipped quietly from their bed. He dressed in a pale blue robe and tied back his long white hair and left the bedroom. At the door a guard greeted him with a smile and a good morning. Orym returned their greeting and moved on threw the palace. In the ante chamber to his bedroom waited Flinar his cousin and chief adviser reading over reports from the night before along with Laor Blackhelm, prince of the neighboring land of Melruth. He looked up as Orym placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Early for you to be up cousin." He said. "More goblin problems?"
"Yes." He handed the report to Orym. "There were more then ten of them seen last night. I think we should do something about border patrols. Maybe build a few more outposts to keep watch."
"I'll talk to Nuala later." Orym said as he read. "Maybe it's time I put this in her hands. Come. Let's get breakfast."
"That could be a problem." Flinar got up and followed Orym. "I've been trying for two days to reach her. She hasn't answered any of my messaging."
"That's odd." Orym looked to Flinar. "That's not like her at all. She's usually very prompt and courteous. Have you tried Abella her aide?"
"I've tried everyone I know in Aspara Bough." He said. "No one's answered. You think there could be trouble? Maybe the goblins are up to something."
"Send someone in to check." Orym said as they entered the dining hall and sat at the table. He reached for the bell on the table and give it a ring. "I'll feel a lot safer if I know she's alright. What of Melruth? Are they as much trouble there Laor?"
"Goblins are troulbe all though Fay Shrea Orym." Laor said. "That will never change."
"We can always hope."
"Good morning Majesty." A maid came in bowing.
"The usual for breakfast?"
"Yes, Dora," He smiled and poured a cup of juice to drink. Just then a guard came in and give them both a salute.
"Sire." He said. "There are two humans to see you. They say it's urgent."
"Very well." Orym said annoyed. "I'll see them after breakfast. Have them wait in the main audience chamber."
With a nod the guard turned and left to deliver his message. Laor turned to Orym with a puzzled look.
"Humans? I wonder what that's all about?"
As Flinar reached for the pitcher of juice he felt something odd. His message stone began to grow warm in his pocket. He reached in and pulled it out and held it out. Instantly he know it was Aggar Ren of Tir Na trying to reach him.
"Aggar!" He sent. "Aiya, What can I do for you today?"
[Flinar its urgent that I speak.with Orym. There's trouble!]
"He's right here."  Flinar sent. "What's got you so agitated?"
[As we speak, there is an army of goblins, dark elves and humans advancing on Dree sent by Tayor Larin and Talsara Darkshade.] Aggar told him. [ Your about to be attacked!]
"What! " Flinar jumped to his feet in shock. "That bitch! How do you know this?"
"What's wrong?" Orym asked.
"We have a problem." Flinar told him moving around to place the stone in front of Orym. "Aggar says we're about to be attacked. "Orym can hear you Aggar. Continue."
[Insa saw them on the march.] Aggar went on. [Fay Shrea has been invaded. They're on there way to you now. There isn't much time. Get the royal family to safety now!]
"Aggar." Orym sent. "I have two human visitors. Could they have something to do with this?"
[ I believe so.] Aggar sent. [ Arrest them. And don't take or touch anything they try to give you. They'll try using powerful magic to put you all under a spell.]
"You have our thanks Aggar." Orym threw down his napkin and stood. " Sound the alarms Flinar. Have our guest taken into custody immediately. Don't let them touch anything they have. Have them put in the null cells. That way they can't cast any magic. If the resist, kill them."
Flinar nodded and called over a guard to issue Orym's orders. The guard listened then rushed off to raise the alarm.
"I must warn my father." Laor wiped his mouth and jumped to his feet. "If Dree is under attack, Melruth can't be far behind."
"Message him quickly." Orym told him. "He may already be under attack."
[Prince Tof says he'll send help but it will take days until we can get there. Can you hold out?]
"We'll try." Flinar said. "But we'll be sending the Queen Phaerl and the children away to safety. How much time do we have before they reach Dree?"
[Less then half a day] Aggar sent. [You have enough time to evacuate the children and reinforce your borders. But Orym, the force coming is very big.]
"Dree will survive Aggar." Orym told Aggar. "Even if I have to surrender to give you time to find a way to help free us. We will survive."
Orym put his head down and walked out of the dining hall. He had to break the news to Phaerl that she would be leaving and he would be staying to fight. For Orym, this beautiful day was getting darker by the minute.
[ Flinar?]
"Don't worry about us Aggar." Flinar sent. "I know what I have to do. I will protect my king and queen. You do what you have to to stop those two."
[We will.] Aggar promised him. [What can we do to help?]
"Find Orym and Phaerl." Flinar sent. "Protect them for me. And free Dree."
[I promise Flinar. Good fortune to you Araegisess.]
Flinar covered the stone then dropped it back in his pocket. He sat for a few minutes before he called his personal assistant to his side to give him his orders. Dree had to be ready for the invasion and somehow he had to send Orym and his family away for their own protection. Orym wouldn't like it but it had to been done. Flinar knew what he was doing was treason, But on this day treason was the only way to save the kingdom.

Queen Phaerl of Dree sat at her dressing table combing her long beautiful hair. She looked out the window to see the sun shining over Dreesport harbor. The fishing vessels were just pulling out led by Mermen. She could see them waving to those gathered on the docks through the enchanted glass of the windows. What a marvelous day she thought. She thought about her plans for the day. She and Queen Anemone of the Mer were to meet with the children for a swim in the lagoon in the garden. Then the two queens would shop for gifts for the party Phaerl was to host for Anemone's youngest son Bhari's fifth birthday. The children would be kept busy with classes while the ladies shopped and had lunch in a lakeside cafe in Dreesport. Phaerl was excited to see her friend. It had been weeks since they had seen each other because of how busy the Dylani had been with their mating season just being over. Phaerl was sure Anemone would have a surprise in store for her. An announcement of a new baby on the way.
Getting up Phaerl went to her closet and took out a sea green dress Anemone had given her and laid it out to put on after her bath. As she readied herself the bedroom door opened and Orym walked in.
"Good morning husband." She smiled kissing him then sat back down to finish her hair. "Everything is ready for Bhari's party. The guest will be here in a few hours. He'll be so pleased."
"Phaerl." Orym stood behind her chair. "The party's canceled. I've sent out notice to everyone not to come."
"What?" She turned in her chair in surprise to stare at her husband. "Orym, Bhari will be so upset. He was looking forward to this, and so were the children. Why? Why did you cancel his party?"
"There's trouble my love." Orym knelt down to look her deep in her eyes. "I want you and the children to pack and get ready to leave."
"Leave? " Phaerl looked at him like he was crazy, "We're not leaving. Anemone's got a surprise for us. I think she's pregnant again. Isn't that wonderful! There's so much to do before the baby comes."
"PHAERL LISTEN TO ME!!"
"Orym, What's the matter with you today?" She stood facing Orym dropping her brush. Orym looked at his wife hating what he was about to tell. They had never spent a day apart since their wedding night and now he was going to have to send her away for her own safety. But he knew he had no choice. Phaerl and the children had to go and his duty was here protecting Dree. And as queen of Dree, she would have to understand.
"Somethings happened." He said. "Fay Shrea has been invaded and someone else is in power there now."
"Nuala? "Phaerl asked horrified dropping back down into her chair.
"I don't know what's happened to her." Orym pulled a chair over and sat down. "I fear all of Fay Shrea is now under the rules of Tayor Larin of Winterhaven and Talsara Darkshade."
"Darkshade?" Shock filled the queens face. She knew just what that meant. "Then the dark elves are on the move again. Why can't she just be content with Darkshade? Why does she have to be so mad with power? Talsara Darkshade won't be happy until she rules all of Keanna!"
"We won't let that happen Phaerl." Orym took her hand and kissed it."We'll fight her. But you and the children have to go somewhere safe. I can't fight her knowing if I lose she'll have you in her hands."
"No Orym." She cried. "I want to stay here. My magic can help you."
"Yes it can." He took his wife in his arms. "You can best help me by caring for our children somewhere safe. Anemone will be leaving too. Caldar has assured me she will be leaving with you. They'll be here and ready to go within the hour and I want you ready. There will be coaches waiting for you by the lagoon. Pack lite there's not much time or room."
"How long will we be gone?" Tears fill her green eyes.
"I don't know." Orym wiped her cheek. "However long it takes to drive them away from our home. You won't be back until it's safe again."
"But.."
Orym stopped her from speaking. He put his finger to her lips. "Shhhhhh. Do this for me love, please. Ease my mind."
"I'll go. But I don't like it." He kissed her deeply holding her close. Then there was a knock on the door. Orym and Phaerl separated but still held hands.
"Enter." The door opened and Flinar and the Dree master magi Strohm Atlantar walked into the room with the king and queen. "What is it Flinar?"
"Anemone and her children are here." Flinar explained. "They are waiting downstairs in the harbor. I'll have them brought here imediately."
"Fine. We'll take care of them as if they were my own family. Phaerl will be ready shortly." Orym said. "Have Dora pack a few things for the children and bring them down to the lagoon while the queen gets ready to leave. We'll be there shortly."
"I have news Majesty." Strohm told them.
"What is it?" Orym let his wife go to gathering things she thought she would need in a small bag. No dresses or jewelry. Just plain clothing she could wear that wouldn't make her stick out since she had no idea where they would be going.
"We should talk alone your majesty." Strohm gestured to the door.
"Very well." Orym walked to the door and stepped out with his two advisers following him to his study. Once there he turned to Strohm for answers. " Well?"
"This was delivered to us this afternoon." Flinar stood aside to reveal a large wooden chest behind him. The three men walked over and stood around it.
"Where did it come from?" Orym asked."The humans?"
"No." Strohm said. "It came from me. I made it."
"I don't understand." The king looked at them confused. "A chest? What's it for?"
"Open it and you'll see." Flinar suggested.
"What is this all about Flinar?" He reached down to open the locks on the chest and pulled the lid up. "How is this going to help us defend Dree?"
"It won't." Strohm raised his hand and began to cast.

Kings and queens
And hero's and villains.
Chieftains and bastards
And dark forces killing.
I cast you to sleep.
To dreamland you go.
To return here to Dree
With freedom in tow.

As the magic swirled and took hold on Orym he turned back to Flinar wide eyes with surprise.
"Why Flinar?" Then he fell to the floor unconscious in a heap.
"Forgive me cousin." Flinar picked him up and placed him in the chest then shut the lid and locked it. "Talsara Darkshade would kill you and I can't let that happen. I need you here. Dree needs you here so you must go for now."
Flinar took the handle of the chest and dragged it out into the hall then called the guards to have the chest places in the coach with Phaerl and the children,
"He'll be alright?" Flinar asked Strohm as he watched them take away the chest.
"Yes." The mage answered. "He'll wake tomorrow far away."
"Good." He said. "Now we can deal with that dark bitch and whoever else is helping her."

It was evening by the time Insa and the others had found a safe place to land and rest. They had stopped for a minute to message Aggar and warn him of Dree's coming invasion. Aggar had promised to tell Tof and warn the people of Dree of what was about to happen. Now the sun had slipped beyond the horizon and they would all have time to talk. Insa told them of what he knew about Tayor Larin and his plans to conquer Keanna. He told them what had happened in New Keanna and how Jandar, Rage and the others of their clan were in a deep sleep. Next he told them about the Academy and how it had vanished and no one knew just what had happened to it. Then he went on to tell them of Zarin and his friends being sent after the Academy. Next it was Elan's turn to tell them of his mothers plans to take all the elven and faire lands. How she had sent them to capture Emrel and dispose of Adanar. But that he and Aron would have no part in her evil plans. He told them of his secret love of Aron and how Aron had been taken with Emrel by the goblins. Then Adanar told them of the mission the goblins had sent them on to find the ring of Endrin.
"Are you sure they said the ring of Endrin?" Insa asked them
"Yes I am." Adanar said. Then were all sitting around a fire eating the dinner Braddoc had hunted for them. " Do you know what it is?"
"Yes I know what it is." He answered. "It's one of the most powerful magic items ever created by dark magic. It was made for the purpose of conquest by another long dead mage. If Tayor finds it we're all in trouble."
"I know where it is." Elan told them.
"So do I." Insa said. "And right now Tayor can't get his hands on it since it's in the Academy. But we have other things to discuss like what were going to do about Fay Shrea and Eventide."
"I will be going back to Eventide." Ariel spoke up. "If somethings wrong there. I should be there."
Insa turned to her with a curious look.
"Are you sure?" He asked. "You would be placing yourself right in the hands of Talsara. Don't forget she has some very powerful magic on her side with Tayor. His spell knocked out all of the rest of our clan. What's to stop her from doing the same to you?"
"Insa. Adanar and I have to do something." Ariel stood excited. Clouds began to build over head as her emotions boiled. "Talsara could be ripping our groves apart at this moment."
"I don't think so." He said. "She wants the magic of the trees. It's one of the main reasons she wants Eventide so bad. "
"Hate is the reason she's in Eventide." They all looked to Ariel as she spoke.
"What do you mean?" Toric asked. He stood and tried to settle her down but she was mad and having none of that.
"Talsara Darkshade is the one of the most evil women to ever walk Keanna." Ariel looked over to Elan and saw the pained look on his face. "I'm sorry Elan but it's the truth. There's something you don't know about your parents and it pains me to tell you but it's time you knew the truth."
"Do you mean that Wyn Darkshade is not my father?" Elan stared intently Into Ariel's shocked face. "Or are you about to tell me that my mother had my real father executed for trying to kill my grandmother when it was her all alone. I know what happened. I've known what my mother is for a long time. I just never had the courage to stand against her. But she has Aron now and I know she'll kill him so that changes everything."
"This is getting us nowhere." Morganz shouted over the arguing. "The question is what are we going to do about all this?"
"Tof and I have talked about this and sent a few of our people out already." Insa told them as they all listened closely. "The cities of Prafa and Remus have been taken and now we know Fay Shrea, Dree and Eventide are under attack by the dark elven queen. Ariel I can't send you to Eventide. You would just be walking right into her hands."
"But..?" Ariel tried to interrupt the elder dragon but he held up his hand silencing her.
"I think Denner and Toric would be better in Eventide." He said. "Denner can shift to look like an elf and a simple spell can alter Toric so he won't be recognized. Once in Eventide you must check on the royal family. I need to know what's going on there. Then go to Fay Shrea and free Emrel and Aron before they are turned over to Talsara. Get them to Tir Na where it's safe. Morganz, the Shadows are in Winterhaven. Pelic knows Tayor and the dark side of the city. You take Elan and Braddoc back to the city and find them. We need to know what Tayor Larin is doing. Braddoc, you go to Tir Na after you drop them off. Tof needs your help."
"I'll get them back to Winterhaven safely."
"Good." Insa smiled. "Any questions?"
"What about the rest of us?" Ariel asked anxiously.
"First there's someone else we need to find." He smiled at her.
Elan looked up to the two dragons. His love on his mind.
"Don't worry. Aron will be saved." Insa assured the young elf. "That's my promise."
"We'll find them." Toric promised. "Denner and I won't stop until we do."
"Thank you." Elan said tearfully. "Just hurry please."
"I think we should all get some rest." Braddoc said. "We've all had a busy day and we're exhausted. Morganz and I will take the first watch. We'll wake Adanar and Elan in four hours to take over. We can talk about this in the morning after we've had some rest. Agreed? "
Everyone shook their heads and went to find a comfortable place to sleep. Ariel took Adanar, Elan and Toric to a place near the trees and tried to find out if they could remember anything that might help them find the two missing elves. Insa sat with Denner and assured him that Nautica and the others were safe in their spelled sleep and that Jax was there to protect New Keanna. Starglow went off on his own to graze and sleep in the field beyond their camp. Morganz took his weapons from Braddoc's back as they made themselves ready for their watch. Braddoc put more wood on the fire then took out his sword and began to sharpen it. It looked like this would be a long night for all of them and sleep might not come so easy for anyone.

After riding hard all day Ryel and Orek found themselves finally crossing the border into Fay Shrea. Night had falling and everything was still as they trotted in. On Ryel's shoulder Dagger squawked and fidgeted. Something was bothering the raven and Ryel knew just what it was. He had been in Fay Shrea many times before with his father, but tonight was different. Fay Shrea had a strange feel to it. Like nothing he's felt before. Orek looked over and saw the look on his friends face.
"What's wrong?" He asked.
"I don't know." Ryel frowned. "The forest just feels wrong."
"How do you mean wrong?" Orek reached to the side of his saddle to feel his axe. It made him feel safer to touch it.
"I don't feel any animals in here." Ryel put his hand to his temple and concentrated. "It's like nothing lives in here anymore. Dagger feels it to."
"You think it was a mistake coming here?" Orek asked.
"No." Ryel said. "This is where Hasmira sent us. She said to find the seventh Eventide. That would be my sister Emrel. She's suppose to be in school in Winterhaven but with the way things have been lately, she must be here and needs our help."
"How are we going to find her?" The dwarf asked. "Fay Shrea is vast in land. We could search for days and find nothing."
Ryel shrugged. He had no idea where to look for her. He was hoping somehow Hasmira would find a way to show them the way. Suddenly Dagger squawked again and jumped from his shoulder and took to the air. Ryel looked in the direction Dagger had flown and saw something move.
"Orek look." He pointed off to there left. There they saw two goblins carrying something green. Ryel and Orek pulled their weapons and climbed down off the horses. Quietly the made their way closer to see what the goblins were doing. As the watched the goblins stopped and threw what they were carrying on the ground. To their surprise Ryel and Orek found out what they had was a leprechaun.
"No one will be paying for you, you green piece of dung." A sword was pulled from the goblins belt. "We don't need you and Sarella says to kill you."
They were going to kill the little man. Ryel put two fingers to his mouth and sent out a loud whistle. From the trees Dagger dived down and attacked one of the goblins and Ryel and Orek went running in with weapons ready. Surprised one goblin spun around just in time to try and parry Orek's battleaxe as it came crashing down at him. But Orek's axe was cast of a special metal mined by the dwarves and broke the goblins sword like it was made of wood. In one swing Orek killed the goblin as his partner tried to shoot dagger from the sky with his crossbow. In a flash Ryel was there to run his sword through the surprised goblins chest and kicking him out of the way.
"Sir, are you alright?" Ryel asked wiping clean his sword and sliding it back into it scabbard.
"Me luck has done it again!"" Finn jumped up and shook Ryel's hand vigorously. "And by an elf no doubt."
Ryel looked at Orek in surprise, What could he be meaning by that?
"By any chance are ya here looking for two elves?"
"We're looking for my sister Emrel." Ryel told him "Do you know where she is?"
"Aye me boyo." Finn dusted himself off. "This be your lucky day. I know just where the lass is. Finn Adair is me name and you must be an Eventide."
"I'm Ryel and this is Orek Grayfist." Orek shook Finn's hand in greeting. "Is she alright?"
"The lass and a friend are in the hands of the goblins." Finn told them. "I can take ya straight to her. We should hurry. Follow me."

The camp of the Bloodfang camp was not far away. Ryel and Orek followed Finn through the forest until came to a swamp where they saw the Bloodfang's camp fires on their island. From behind a hill they watched the going on in the camp. There were only a few fires lit at this hour with small goblin women tending pots tossing ingredients in. They looked around the camp for opposition. All they could find were a small group of maybe fifteen warriors huddled in front of a great mound shouting at each other. Where were the rest of Bog Fangores men? From the size of the island and the amount of huts there Ryel could tell this was a large clan with a few hundred in it. So where were they? Hunting? That didn't make sense. You hunt in partied yes, but not the whole tribe?
"Where is everyone?" Orek asked Finn."This place looks almost abandoned."
"War." Finn held up his finger to quiet them. "They're on the march with Sarella?"
"Who?" Ryel asked. He had never heard of any Sarella. But If the goblins were following her, she must be very powerful.
"I'll tell ya later." Finn whispered. "Right now we got to get in that cave at the foot of the mound. See the two torches burning there. That's where the cave is. How do ya want to get in?"
"Great. They're right outside the cave. We can't rush the island." Orek told them. "There's only three of us. We have to move closer to the cave and find a way to divert them away so we can get in. We could use some help here. How about your people?"
"We're not warriors lad." Finn frowned. "I be with ya, but unless they're attacking our glen, the wee people won't help ya."
"I have an idea where we can get help." Ryel poked his head out for a closer look. Two of the goblins were fighting now while the rest cheered them on.
"Bloody idiots." Finn smirked.
"You two keep low and move around to where you can get into the cave and free Emrel when it's clear."
"What are you going to do?" Orek asked.
"I have to make the diversion." Ryel smiled getting to his feet.
"By yaself?" Finn asked. "Are ya mad boy?"
"Don't worry." Ryel called over his shoulder. "I have friends."
Finn looked at Orek confused not understanding the elf at all. How could a lone elf armed with just a sword and his pet raven possibly keep the goblins busy enough to bring them away from that cave?
"Let's go." Orek started moving out to get in position."
"How?"
"Shhhh!!!" Orek hushed him. " He has friends. Come on."

The bone dice game was forgotten as Benk Foulyell and Mxog Damnbane traded blows. No weapons were being used but their clenched fists hammering at each other without mercy. Benk had won the last round but Mxog had claimed he had been cheated and the fight was to settle the matter. Their comrades cheer them on but none of them would make a moved to separate them or end the battle. Side bets on who would win were called out and coins were taken as they fought in the shadows of the fire. Suddenly a piercing screech ripped the night and the goblins froze where they stood in fear. Out of the night sky on huge feathered wings flew two monstrous griffin to land screaming in front of the camp pawing and snapping. While women screamed and grabbed the young, the warriors rushed and took up their weapons and ran out to meet the two monsters. Swords and spears were thrust out at the beast as they roared and swiped at the goblins. With a swing of it's wing, one of the griffins sent two goblins flying back to crash into the huts behind the fight. Benk Foulyell with Mxog Damnbane charged in together screaming their war cry weapons raised as one beast spun quickly to grab another goblin. Like ligntning the snake tail struck out biting Mxog filling him with it's burning venom. Benk tried for a strike at the chest of one. It rose into the air and came down crushing him into the mud then leaped into the goblins sending them running into the swamp.
From the far side of the camp Ryel watched and sent instructions to the griffins as they scattered the goblins. He smiled and sent Orek a message.
[Go now!]
Huddled near the cave Orek and Finn watched the goblins battle the griffins. Smoke rise from the burning huts that had caught fire from knocked over torches and lanterns. Once the last goblin guard was to busy to notice, Orek and Finn slipped out creeping alone the mound and ran into the cave. Seated by the door Aron looked up in surprise to see the leprechaun they thought had been taken to his death come running in along with a young dwarf armed with a battleaxe.
"Finn?" Emrel called rushing to the cage door." We thought the goblins had killed you."
"I told ya lass. Trust ya luck." He smiled shaking Aron's hand through the bars. "I found some help ta get ya out"
Orek heft his axe and slammed the blade down on the lock. It took two hits but soon Aron and Emrel were free and standing with their rescuers outside the cage. Orek bowed and introduced himself.
"Pleased to meet you princess." He said tossing his axe over his should. "But we better get moving. I don't know how long Ryel can hold off the goblins."
"Ryel?" Emrel looked at him in shock. "My brother Ryel? What he doing here?".
"We gotta go!"
Together the four ran for the cave entrance when suddenly three armed goblins stepped into the cave blocking there way.
"Going somewhere?" One asked stepping forward. Orek pulled his axe his face frowning with anger. Finn held out his hand stopping him.
"I've a gift for ya." Finn smiled reaching in his pocket.
"What could you have we that we would want little man?" The goblins laughed.
"GOLD!!" Finn pulled the gold out and threw it at the goblins. Their eyes grow bright as they grabbed for it out of the air. But as soon as they touched it, they grew stiff and a gold shine began to cover them. Soon there were three golden goblins standing at the entrance holding the coins.
"Never touch leprechaun gold." Finn said as he walked pass them. He stopped and pushed the golden goblins over. "They should know better. Lets go before more come lookin for us."
"Where are we going?" Aron asked as they slipped out of the camp.
"I got a promise to keep." Finn said. "And a fairy to rescue."

Spies. 33

No matter how hard he tried, Tof Tyr could not find Valkar or anyone else in the usual way. His last option was to send someone out to Yadessa to talk with him. That had been last night. Tonight his runner had returned with the news that Valkar was in Prafa and no one had heard from Prafa in a few days. Tof took his news to the study to tell the others. He walked to his study and entered. There he found Sharone and Aggar talking with Keya. while Insa sat cross legged by the fire. When Tof walked in Insa stood and came over to sit with them.
" Any news on Valkar?" He asked.
" He's in Prafa." Tof told them as he sat behind the desk.
" That's good." Sharone sighed. " At least he's safe."
" Not quite." Tof stopped her. " No ones heard from Prafa all week. They're going to send someone to check on the city in the morning?"
" Don't bother." Came a voice from the door. Everyone turned to find Athene and Adam in the doorway. Athene laying in the arms of her big friend dressed in a torn and ragged blue gown.
" Athene!!" Tof jumped out rushing over to help. " Sharone get them something to drink. Adam, put her on the couch."
Sharone ran off to find a suitable drink for the two exhausted vampires as Aggar and Keya made room for Adam to lay her down. Then he fell into a chair beside her.
" What happened?" Insa asked. " Where's Valkar?"
" He's been captured in Prafa." Adam told them. " We barely made it out before the city was put under some strange spell."
Keya looked over to Insa then to Tof as she listened to Adams story. It was all to familiar to them as he told it. Sharone came back in carrying to flagon of some dark brew she passed to Adam. He took it and looked at the deep red brew the looked up weary of the drink.
" Drink it Adam." Tof said. " It's based on cattle blood with a few herbs. Ranjer loves it. Trust me friend,"
Adam raised the flagon in salute then tipped it back and drank deeply enjoying the warm liquid as it went down his throat. Sharone sit down and cradled Athene's head and let her sip slowly.
" So tell us what happened in Prafa." Adam put down his empty cup then looked up collecting his thoughts. He told them all about Tomas Acros and his trip to Winterhaven. How he had been captured during the fighting there.
" Stop." Keya held up her hand. " Let me guess. He came back all red eyed and mysterious with and story about how rebels freed him. Just like my brother Raf did. Now they have King Valkar under their power. You were next Tof. Or your father would have been had he been in control.
" But he's not and I have been warned." Tof moved back to his desk and opened the top draw and removes a piece of parchment.
" What are you doing." Keya asked.
" I have to warn others." He said writing. " We have allies that we can stop this from happening to."
" Fine." Adam sat up feeling stronger." Be I have to go back and free my king. I owe him my life. I just need a few men and I can take Prafa back!"
" Wait a minute now." Keya stood. " Prafa is now a city under siege controlled by man bent on ruling the world. It'll take much more then a few men to take it back. Trust me, my homes been taken the same way."
" The what do you suggest?" Aggar asked her.
" Hold a minute everyone." Insa spoke up. " Attacking Prafa or Remus isn't the answer."
" Then what is?" Tof asked lowering his quill." This is war and we're probably the next to be attacked."
" Winterhaven is the answer." Insa told them. " We taken Winterhaven and Lord Larin with stealth and intelligence. That's the way to beat him."
" Alright." Tof said. " We're listening. How do you want to do this?"
" We find allies." He said. " We see want we have to fight with. Then we moving on Winterhaven quietly. First I need to find the Shadows."
" You mean Jayce, Pelic and Graym?" Tof asked. " Do you know where they are?"
" Yes." Insa nodded. " Jandar sent them into Wintehaven on a spying mission. " Jax said their orders were to stay hidden and find a way to get close to Tayor. He also said he hadn't heard anything from them in days so I have no idea how there doing or if they're even free. They could be sitting in Tayor's dungeon right now."
" Then we have to send someone in to find them and make contact." Tof stood from his desk and walked out front and sat on the edge. " None of us here could possibly enter without suspicion. I don't have anyone I can send either with our connection with the dragons. Aggar, What did you find when you made contact with Fay Shrea?"
" Absolutely nothing." He said. " I couldn't contact anyone in all of Fay Shrea. It's like there's a wall around all of the faire lands."
" No dwarves or fairy?" Sharone asked. " No pixies, gnomes or leprechauns? How can that be?""
" I don't know." Aggar said. " I guess they're in this too. We should send someone to take a look around."
" That would be a job for me." Insa told them. " I can fly over and see what's going on. In the meantime Tof. Send out your warnings to everyone you can think of. Adam, once Athene is awake I want you two to go to Vasagi. Warn them of what's going on and have someone sent to Prafa. Have them get close enough to find out what goes on there but have to report back some how."
" I know how." Aggar stood and went to a large chest that sat in the corner by the library shelves. He opened the chest and took out what looked like oval lead eggs.
"These are message stones made by the dwarves, used by many others including the elves." He handed one to Insa and Tof. " I've been trying to get your father to try them for the longest time."
" How do the work?" Tof turned it over in his hand curious.
" You hold it in the palm of your hand and concentrate on the person you want to talk to. If they have a stone it will work just like mindspeak only through the stone instead of there mind." He explained.
" And this works?" Tof asked.
[ Very well the dwarves assure me.] Aggar sent through the stone he was holding. Insa and Tof almost dropped them in shock.
" Everyone take one." Tof said. Aggar began handing them out to everyone. " Adam send one into Prafa. Tell whoever goes to be careful and not to lose it. Aggar, we need to know how far and what lands are still free. Send out runners to all our allies. Give them your message stones so we can communicate when we have to. I want our sentries doubled. I expect a visit soon from Raf or some other faction of Tayor's."
" I'll take a few to." Insa said. " There's a few people I need to find while I'm out. The could be a big help to us."
" Fine." Tof said. " We all know what we're doing, Lets get on with it. We may not have that much time."

Dressed in a simple peasant dress and shawl Ashura made her way up the long road to Larin Manor. She was carrying a basket of herbs.and other medicinal elixirs Youron had ordered. Usually he would send a man from the house staff to pick up the supply's but he had Ashura promise him to bring them herself the moment she had finished mixing them. What he had asked her to make was that delicate he didn't want them in the hands of some clumsy stable hand, and it would give her the chance to visit the Manor and to maybe even see the new lord. The day was overcast with clouds and rather cold. She stopped at the gate and told the guard of her delivers.
" I will take that in." He said reaching for her basket. Ashura drew back from him.
" These are very special and if handled wrong." She said. " The mixtures will be spoiled. Youron swore me to bring them myself. If you don't believe me, send someone in with me. But I will not be responsible if Lord Larins potions shaken and useless."
The guard looked at her weighing his options. He could insist on taking them himself, but if she had stumbled on the way here and there's anything wrong with the potions he knew he would be blamed. Better not to touch them and take any chances.
" Very well." He said opening the gate for her. " Take them around back and have the maid call Youron."
" Do I need an escort?" She asked smiling at him, her perfume enticing him as she ran a hand across his arm.
" No." He smiled back wondering why he had never seen this beautiful woman before and if he could possibly see her again. He wanted to escort her, but he didn't dare leave his post. " It's not far and no one would dare accost you here on my lords land."
" Thank you." She waved turning to go and walked slowly up the road. Her scent on the air he watched her walk away hoping to see her again.
It wasn't a long walk up to Larin Manor. She looked around and saw people working on the lands, Gardeners, stable hands and groundskeepers. As she looked them in the eyes she saw they all had something in common. They all looked miserable. Like they had nothing left to live for. Ashura turned away. She couldn't let their fears get to her. She had a job to do for these very people. She had to get in and close to Lord Larin and see what his plans were. Who was next on his list, what dark magic had he discovered that he could turn on Winterhaven and Keanna.
At the doors to Larin manor stood two sentries in Larin manor house colors. Ashura slowly walked up the few stars and told them she was here to See Youron. One nodded and turned and went in to find him. So far Ashura had noted more then ten guards on the estate. And that was just on the outside. She was sure there would be more inside the manor. As for magic, she could feel its presence was very strong. Of course Larin Manor with it's history of powerful mages emitted magic of its own. She was sure through the ages a lot of magic had been use here. And there were many spells on the manor itself. But still she didn't feel magic here on the level the ring would have.
" Lady Ashura!" Youron walked limping from the house. He to the stairs one at a time with a pained look. " How nice of you to Come. Is this what we talked about?"
" Yes it is." She handed him her basket. " It's all just been mixed fresh within the hour like you asked. The rookwood should relieve any pain your feeling for at least eight hours after a teaspoon in mixed with water. Now don't forget, it has to be diluted or the potion will or it will tear up your stomach."
" I understand." Youron held up the vial of blue liquid to look through then placed it back in the basket and took the green cloudy potion out.
" Careful." She warned him. " This mixture is very delicate. If you shake it to much you'll render it useless. " It's got masnaris in it. I don't know what you want it for, but I followed your recipe to the letter."
" Thank you Lady Ashura." Youron placed the vial back in its place where it would be safe. " My master will be pleased."
" Where Is Lord Larin?" She asked looking around.
" Here. Behind you."
Ashura turned and there stood Tayor Larin dressed in rich red velvet vest and a white shirt with black pants and knee high riding boots. In his hand he carried a cane with a great crystal stone at the end. He nodded to Ashura and smiled slightly.
" Ashura De Mel." He took her hand and kissed the back. " It's been a long time since the Dark Circle. How have you been?"
" Doing well My lord." She smiled and blushed a little nervous. She wasn't expecting to run into Lord Larin. She thought she would just look around a little maybe get some magical hint from the manor and his people. But here she was and Tayor Larin was right in front of her.Like it or not, this was her chance to get close. She be careful and not waste it.
" Tayor." He said. " Call me Tayor please. We are old friends after all. Can I show you around. It's been a long time sine you've been to Larin manor."
" Thank you Tayor. I'd be delighted." Ashura took his arm as he turned from Youron to lead her into the garden.
" Master!" Youron limped after them. " I need to speak with you."
" Later." Tayor called. " I have a guest. Whatever it is, it can wait."
" Yes sire."
Youron watched as they left on Ashura's tour of the grounds. He wonder what Ashura's presence in Lord Larins life would mean. He remember what had happened to the last mistress of Larin Manor and hoped he wouldn't have to do something like that again. But if he found out she was a threat in any way, he wouldn't hesitate no matter who she was or even if Tayor Larin loved her. He's done it once, he'd do it again.

In Aspara Bough the city of the fairy queen Nuala, a strange woman in black sat on the throne. Sarella the banshee. In the name of Lord Larin and Talsara queen of the Darkshade elves she had been busy. After taking Aspara Bough she had moved on and taken most of Fay Shrea. Faire, dwarves, goblins and trolls were now under their spell and either asleep in some dark prison or red eyed and in their control. Sarella smiled holding the crown in her hand as she looked as its jewels sparkling in the sun. She thought about her captives being held deep in Aspara's dungeons, Hema and Queen Nuala. They were powerless now to escape and be any trouble to them now so she would move on to Lord Larins next target. The rest of the elven lands. Talsara had taken Eventide but she wanted more. She would rest until she had control of all the elven lands dark or light. And since Fay Shrea was so close, at was the perfect place to launch their attacks from.
" Lady Sarella."
" Yes?" She looked up at see a dark elf warrior saluting in front of her. " What is it?"
" Our troops are ready to move." he said. " We await your command."
" Very well." She stood and tossed the crown aside. " The lands of the Dree and the Elorn are closest. We attack them first. I want your mages ready to go in first. Our agents have been sent in already. If they have done their jobs, this shouldn't be to difficult. But there will be some resistance. Have them ready to move within the hour."
" As you wish." He pounded his chest and turned and marched out.
Sarella watched as he left. Today would be Larins day. But soon her day would come. And then she would take back all she had giving him for herself. Then Queen Sarella's reign would begin and all will bow to her.

Riding hard Elan and Adanar drove their horses through Fay Shrea. They were on a mission to save Aron and Emrel from their fates at the hands of Talsara and her goblin hordes. Before them Adanar had cast a probe to warn them of any trouble ahead. It was to show a bright shining orb over the path ahead if anyone were to be in path. Suddenly it became like a small bright moon over their heads in warning.
" Elan!" Adanar shouted. " We've got trouble ahead!"
" What is it?"
" I don't know." Adanar reached down and undid the strap the held his sword in it scabbard. Now it was ready for a fight. " All I know is that there's riders on their way toward us. We don't have time to stop. Get ready."
Elan thought fast. It could be anything coming at them. Quickly he formed a spell in his mind and had it ready to fly the minute someone came into view. He gripped his reigns and urged his horse on. Suddenly a roar and a flash of something blue flew overhead. Elan raised a hand to cast his spell when he heard Adanar shout.
" Seven!!!!"
Over there heads in the sky flew two great dragons. One blue and a smaller one all red with smoke issuing from it's snout. Hearing her elven name Ariel looked down to find her younger brother Adanar below waving at her. With a tip of her wings she sailed down to the ground. As she touched down she shifted and ran to him. Adanar jumped from his horse dropping his sword and ran and hugged his sister.
" Adanar I've been so worried about you! " Ariel cried holding him in her arms. As the two hugged Braddoc and Starglow came charging through the brush to find the two elves in the clearing hugging and Elan watching from his horse. Toric rode up on Starglow and jumped off to stand next to Morganz and Braddoc.
" Elan Darkshade?" Morganz walked over to his horse. " What are you doing here? Your suppose to be in the Academy?"
" Laev keryn." Elan held out his hand to show he wasn't armed. " I'm here to help. I'll explain everything."
" Adanar." Ariel looked around, " Where's Emrel? She's with you right?"
The look of joy slipped from Adanar's face. He looked to Elan but know he had to be the on to tell Ariel what had happened to their sister.
" We don't have time for long explanations." Toric said. " The Trolls will be here in a few minutes. We have to get moving. Ariel, you'll have to take Braddoc. He's the biggest of us all. Can you carry anyone else?"
" I can carry one more." She said. " I'll take Adanar so we can talk."
" Good." Toric said. He climbed on Stargolw's back. " Denner you can carry Morganz and Elan. Hurry, there almost here."
[ Get on.]
Morganz stepped up and climbed on Denners back the pulled Elan up behind him. Ariel stepped to the side and shifted then helped Adanar strap Braddoc to her back.
" I don't like flying." Braddoc said trembling.
" We don't have a choice! Hold on!" Toric yelled back as Starglow took to the air. " Let's go! Here they come!!"
In a mad rush the trolls came pouring out of the forest. Everyone one of them was armed with something. A battleaxe, broadsword or a club fashioned of a branch or trunk almost as thick as a man. Turning to face the trolls Ariel sent a blizzard of sleet at the trolls to blind them and force them back as she and Denner leaped into the sky. From the ground heavy boulders were launched at them trying to bring them down. In a flash Starglow swooped down throwing fireballs as Toric sent bolts of energy at them as the other flew high enough to get out of range missiles speeding at them.
" We made it!" Morganz shouted looking down at the troll growing smaller as they flew off out of Fay Shrea. " Where are we going now?"
[ I want to know where Emrel is.] Ariel sent to them all. [ I know she was with you when you left Winterhaven. What happened?]
" Seven." Adanar said. " Emrel's been taken along with Aron, Elan's mate. The goblins have her."
[ WHAT?] An angry blast of lightning flew from Ariel into the clouds and lite up the skies.
" It's true." Elan told them, " There's a lot you all should know. We need to find a safe place were we can explain everything."
[ No!] Ariel screamed in there heads. [ We have to go get her back now!]
" We don't know where they are sister." Adanar hugged her neck. " Elan and I have been sent on a mission to bring something back to the Goblin. Please, lets do as Elan suggests. You need to hear it all before rushing in and maybe getting them killed."
[ Let's just get away from Fay Shrea for now.] Denner sent. [ They're right. Without knowing where they're being held, we can't possibly get them free without the Goblins seeing us coming.]
[ I'll do as you say for now.] She sent. [ But I'm getting her out of there if I have to go alone.]
[ Your not going anywhere without me.] Toric sent.
" Or us!" They all promised.

Storm clouds filled the sky as Insa and Aggar left Tyr manor. Insa was on his way out of the Wolves Lair while Aggar had his orders to carry out. As they walked they watch the people of the Lair go about their daily chores with no knowledge of things that were going on. Once at the edge of town they stopped.
" I expect we'll be warning everyone of the troubles in Winterhaven now." Aggar said.sadly.
" Yes. It seems they'll always be someone out there looking for conquest." The dragon said. " But don't worry. There's always hope. As long as there are free men, there will be hope."
" You be careful Professor." Aggar took his arm and they shook. " And hurry back."
" I will." Insa opened his cloak and shifted to his dragon form. With a mighty leap he spread his wings and was off. He circled the lair then headed south towards Fay Shrea. He was very curious about what was happening in Fay Shrea. The faire fork were allies of both the dragons and Tir Na. If they were in trouble, he wanted to do want he could to help. Besides, their lands were close to Elven lands and the Eventide's. He owed it to Cutter and Ariel to make sure their home was not in danger. Enjoying the feel of the wind against his wings Insa tilted his wings and moved to a higher altitude. From there he soared effortlessly through the skies loving the feeling of freedom the skies gave him. It wasn't long before he found himself flying over Fay Shrea. He dropped down for a closer look at the faire lands. All seemed quiet until he was over Aspara Bough. There to his surprise he saw a great gathering of men marching out of Fay Shrea. Through his sharpe vision he could tell this was a army on the march. But who's army. He didn't see any kind of banners flying and it just didn't seem to be of faire origin. Sure there were goblins, trolls and a few other faire species. But there was more humans then anything. From above he couldn't tell if the were any werewolves or vampire there, but he did see a large contingent of dark elves among them. Insa wonder where they were going for a second. they thought about the path they were on. They were heading into elven lands. If they kept on the path they were on, they would be in Dree in less then a days march. Orym Dree was king of the Dree and a very good friend and ally of the Tir Na and neighbor of Eventide. If this army took Dree, Eventide would be attacked soon after. He would have to warn them some how. and there was only two ways to do that. Either he would have to fly there himself, or land and message Tof and hope he could get a warning to them. Insa remembered Aggar saying the elves used the stones. That would be quickest way to pass on the warning. Suddenly from behind him an ear piercing scream hit him knocking him to the side. Insa dropped and flipped to the around to see that it was that had hit him. Behind him flew a strange white haired woman dressed in black flowing robes. He knew just what she was. A harbinger death. A Banshee.
[ Who are you?] He sent. [ Why have you attacked me?]
[ I know you.] She answered. [ And I've been order to kill you.]
[ Why?] He asked. [ I don't know you.]
[ I am Sarella.] She sent. [And I know you Smoke dragon, your death is one of the things I promised my master. And I always keep my promises.]
With a scream she battered at Insa again and again, the sonic's knocking him all around. Try as he might Insa couldn't get a second between screams to orient himself and fight back in any way. The pain was overwhelming. With all the effort he could muster, Insa spread his wings to stabilize himself for a fight.
[ It's no use.] Sarella sent. [ Your alone and about to die!]|
Just then out of the clouds above a bolt or lightning and a gout of flame flew down and struck Sarella before she could send her next blast at Insa.
[ He's a dragon, bitch!] Insa heard. [ You should know we're never alone!]
From the clouds above them, Ariel and Denner flew down sending blasts at Sarella. Ducking and dodging Sarella quickly fell away and flew off screaming out her rage at their intrusion.
[ This isn't over dragon. I am your death. I'll be all of your deaths and I'll be back!!]
[ Ariel! I've never been so happy to see any in my life!]
[ Are you alright?] Toric asked as he and Starglow flew up next to him.
[ I'll be fine.] He sent. [ I just need to land and rest for a minute or two. Where did you all come from?]
[ Fay Shrea.] Ariel sent coming in close. [ We were looking for my brother here and my sister.]
[ I've a lot to tell you.] Insa said. [ I need to get to the ground to talk and send a message. Follow me and we'll find somewhere we can talk.]
[ We have a lot to tell you to. We're right behind you Professor] Denner sent from beneath them. Together the three dragons and Starglow headed off away from Fay Shrea. From beneath on the ground Sarella watched. Insa had been lucky today, but he wouldn't always have his friends with him. She would catch him alone one day. Or maybe she wouldn't be alone and the advantage would be on her side. It didn't matter. She would kill him. And she would get as many of them as she could. And that, she swore to herself.

The Truth Comes Out. 32

Pain throbbed in Aron Neveral's head as he opened his eyes. He reached up and rubbed the knot on his head and flinched in pain as he sat up.
" Easy." He heard someone say. Aron looked up to find Emrel Eventide standing beside him wiping his brow. " How do you feel?"
" Like bells are being pounded in my head." Aron looked around. He was in a cage with two other people. Emrel and a leprechaun.
" Where am I?" He asked trying to get to his feet nervously. " Where's Elan?"
" Careful Aron. Stay down until your head stops aching." Emrel held him down. " What was the last thing you remember?"
Aron thought back for a moment. The last thing he remembered, he and Aron were in Fay Shrea watching Emrel and Adanar. They had just decided to go catch up with the two Eventide's in the morning and tell them what Elan's mother had planned. They had went to sleep. Something had woke him, then nothing.
" Where are we Emrel?" He asked changing the subject. " And who's the leprechaun?"
" Begging ya pardon lad." Finn bowed to Aron. " Finn Adair. A fellow captive in trouble just like yaself."
" My brother and I were trying to get home to Eventide." Emrel told Aron as she fetched a skin of water for Aron to drink. " We were traveling through Fay Shrea and made camp when we were attacked. They took me while I was sleeping. I don't know what happened to Adanar."
" You and the lass will be ransomed back to ya kin, I suppose." Finn said helping Aron to his feet and holding him steady. " Me, the goblins are enemies of me folk. I be about done."
I don't think so." Aron said. He walked around testing the bars of their cell. " Emrel maybe, but I don't have any family to pay a ransom for me."
" What of Elan?" Emrel asked him. " Surely the Darkshade's will pay. You and Elan are so close."
" I don't think so." Aron laughed. " Talsara Darkshade would rather see me dead then pay for my freedom. And if I remember my goblin lore right, they don't usually keep hold of captives they can't ransom."
" What's that mean?" Emrel asked Aron.
" It means have they ever ransomed one of your people before Finn?"
" Why no." Finn thought about it. " Ya be right lad. Gobbies kill leprechauns. Always have, always will."
" Then why are they holding you?" Aron asked.
Suddenly Finn's eyes lit up as if an idea had struck him. He jumped to his feet and faced the two elves.
" It be that damned Banshee!" He said excited,. " The bitch and whoever she be workin for!"
" Banshee?" Emrel asked. " There's a Banshee after you?"
" Strange things be happening these days lass." He nodded. " Nothings bin right since I got out of Winterhaven."
" WINTERHAVEN!!" Aron grabbed Finn by the shoulders. " We're both from the Academy in Winterhaven! What's this have to do with Winterhaven?"
" Sit down me friends. " Finn told them. " There be things ya should know."
As they sat there Finn told them all about the coup in Winterhaven.  He told them of Tayor Larins take over and how he and Hema had escaped. Then he went on to tell of the happenings in Aspara Bough and how the faerie queen had been taken. Lastly he told of Hema and her fight with Sarella the banshee.and how he had gotten away hoping to find help to bring back for the fairy.
" So I be thinking this has something to do with all that." Finn finished. " That be the only reason the Gobbies would keep me alive. "
" Your not going to be much help in here." Aron told him He walked to the cage door and shook it,
" We've tried that." Emrel stood and walked to Aron.. " Both of use have tried it. It's no use."
" Have you tried magic?"
Emrel looked at him a bit annoyed. " Of course we have. It didn't work."
" Goblin magic is no where near as strong as what they teach at school. Maybe all three of us can come up with a spell that will be strong enough to break it. It's worth a try."
" Tis lad." Finn nodded. " But I don't think It'll get us outta here. I think It'll take more then magic ta get away form here."
Emrel looked at Aron as he checked every bar. He tried the door again then went and sat in the corner looking worried. She knew he was probably worried about his friend Elan and where he was. She was worried about Adanar and the rest of her family. But what was with the two elves? They were both usually with that cretin Tabor. What were they doing out here in Fay Shrea? She stood up and walked over and sat beside him.
" You miss him don't you?"
" Yes." He said with his head down tears on his cheek. Those goblins may have hurt him. He could even be dead."
" I think you would know if he was dead. " She smiled. " Wouldn't you?"
Aron looked up into Emrel's eyes. That's when she saw just what was in his heart. He loved Elan. That's why they where so close. They were lovers.
" Aron." She said. " I know Adanar is OK. If he were hurt I know I'd feel it. What do you feel?"
Aron closed his eyes and concentrated on Elan. He suddenly could feel him out there thinking of him. He smiled.
" He's scared and worried." He said opening his eyes. " But he's OK."
" What are you doing here Aron? Tell me the truth. Why are you in Fay Shrea?"
Aron looked again at the pretty elven maiden. There was something about her that felt familiar deep in his heart. Like he should trust her with his and Elan most deepest secret.".
" We're here looking for you."
Just then two goblins came into the cave and put a key to the lock of the door to their cage. They opened the door as the three captives moved back.
" You leprechaun. Come with us."
" And where would ya be takin me?" Finn asked.
" You will find out soon enough." One said smiling.
" Stay here Finn." Aron stepped in front of the little man to protect him. " He goes no where."
" He comes with us." The goblin said raising a crossbow and aiming at Emrel. " Or she dies."
" No I be going with ya." Finn stepped out then turned to the to elves and whispered. " Don't worry about me. I still have me luck."
Finn stepped out of the cage and smiled at them as the door was closed and relocked. He waved as they led him away with the crossbow pointed at his back.
" Good luck." Emrel whispered. Then she began to cry.
Aron took her in his arms and held her as she sobbed into his shoulder.
" Don't worry Emrel. Elan and Adanar will find us. We'll save him somehow."

Galloping hard on the trail with Elan in the lead, Adanar wondered where they were going. He had never heard of this Golden ring of Endrin and had no idea where they would find it. But it seemed Elan did. There was something Elan needed to explain and now was as go a time as any.
" Elan, Stop!" Adanar pulled his horse to a halt. Elan looked back at him then stopped and went back to see what was wrong.
" Why have we stopped?" Elan ask. " We have a long ride ahead of us. We need to hurry."
" A long ride where?" Adanar asked him. " Where are we going?"
" To find the ring." He said. " It's the only thing that can save them. Lets go."
" What ring? Where is it?" This time Adanar was getting angry. His sisters life was in danger and he wanted answers. " What were you doing in Fay Shrea?"
Elan looked at Adanar opened mouth. He knew Adanar deserved answers. But how could he explain that he was there to kidnapped Emrel and bring her back to Darkshade to be his bride and future queen. His only choice was the truth. All of it. No lie or deception would help him here. It was time Adanar knew just what was going on.
" Adanar I'm going to tell you everything. " He pulled his horse up next to his new companion. " You won't like what I have to say, but my love depends on you helping me save him. All I ask is that you stay calm and listen to all I have to say. Our lives depend on this. You must promise."
" I'll listen. But I can't make and promises."
Elan took a second to gather his thought then started to tell him his story and everything he needed to know.
" Our families are enemies this you know." He started. " What you don't know is that my mother the queen of Darkshade has plans to invade Eventide."
" What!!"
" Please let me finish." Elan held up his hand to stop him from exploding. "Aron and I have been sent out here to capture your sister to take home to be my queen. But I love Aron and I can't do what I've been ordered to do. Last night Aron and I decide to come and tell you all of this. I will be not do as my mother asked and I will do all I can to help you stop her. But I need your help to save Aron. Will you help me?
" How do I know I can trust you?" Adanar asked. " You just told me my entire families in danger and your family is the cause! Why should I trust you, a Darkshade?"
" Because by telling you I have just committed treason. My mother will have me imprisoned or executed. I can't go home. Ever again. Aron and I will have to run from mothers hunters for the rest of our lives always looking behind us. For Aron I'll do this. But I need your help. Please will you help us?
Adanar looked at Elan. He knew he was right. If what he said was true, Queen Talsara would have her own son beheaded for betraying her. He had just as much to lose as he did and Adanar knew he would need Elan's help to save Emrel and Eventide.
" Swear to me this is all the truth." Adanar reached for his hand. " As a true friend from this day on. Swear it."
" Al hond ebrath, uol tath shantar en tath lalala ol hond ebrath." Elan took his hand. " As a true friend I swear."
" Then where is this ring they want?" Adanar shook his hand. A elven princes oath is bond. He would die before betraying it.
" I think it's in the Academy in Winterhaven." Elan told his new friend. Zarin Testa and his friends hid it there."
" Zarin?" Adanar had a irritated look on his face. " It could be anywhere knowing them! We better hurry and find it. The goblins won't wait forever."
" Then let's get moving. We have a long ride ahead of us."
Kicking his horse on, The two elves rode off through Fay Shrea. There mission, to save Emrel and Aron. After that, together they could stop Talsara and maybe find a way to bring peace to the two waring families. But for that, they would need a lot more help. And a lot more magic then four Academy students knew.

In the dead of night deep in the forest of the lands on the Dwarf's, Ryel and Orek slumbered wrapped in their blankets close to the campfire. The were both weary from their long ride through Durkhold on their way to Lands End.. After a small dinner of dried meat and water, they had both passed out with exhaustion while listening to the sounds of the night. Dreams of home filled Ryel's Mind. He saw himself in the Eventide forest playing with Adanar and Emrel while has older brothers and sister practiced dueling with swords made from fallen branches. He dreamed of happy times. Time when father was alive. And so were his older brothers Zaoir and Shael. Jake was in the garden with his animals and Seven was telling Eolis of some new thing she had made. Ryel smiled looking at his family. They looked so happy altogether Suddenly dark clouds began a fill the sky.and the trees began to move in the strong wind. Adanar ans Emrel ran back to the tree entrance and the safety of home as thunder crashed all around him. Ryel turned and began to run when from nowhere he heard a voice call his name.
" Ryel!"
He stopped and looked around to see who was calling. Lightning flashed through the trees as he watched giving the forest an eerie glow. From out of the grove he saw a figure walk out of the trees. It was a woman. Ryel didn't recognize her from Eventide but from her pointed ears and tall statue, he knew she was definitely elven. Her face was lined with age and dark. She must be of one of the dark elves he thought. She was dressed in the gray colors most members of elder councils wore and holding a beautiful rainbow colored rose in her hand. Smiling she walked right up to him and bowed. He looked in her gray eyes confused. What was a dark elf doing here in Eventide alone?
" I am Hasmira of the Darkshade's." She told him. " And I have come to help you."
" What is this?" He asked. " A dream?"
" It's much more then a dream young prince." Hasmira put her hand on his shoulder and led him off. As they walk the storm began to clear. The thunder and lightning stopped and the winds calmed while sun light again filled the sky. " The Eventide's are in dire trouble and you and your brothers and sister are it's only hope. Talsara Darkshade will do all she can to decimate your family and take the magic of the groves as her own. If she finds she can't have the power of your sacred trees, she will put her dark taint on them and never again will Eventide be the same,"
" I know Lady." Ryel said. " Eventide is not the only lands threaten. The dwarven lands have been invaded too."
" So has the werewolves, the vampires and the humans." She explained. " The threat goes far beyond our lands and many will die if we don't do something."
" What can I do Lady Hasmira?" He asked confused. " I am but one and not really important here."
" Ahh!" She smiled her gray hair sparkling. " But you are. You have a very important role here. One of the most important."
" Orek and I are to find the ring." He said. " We are heading to Lands End to find it now. We have a long ways to go, but I promise we'll hurry and return with it's magic to help."
" Ryel. The Ring of Endrin is not in Lands End." He looked at her in shock and surprise. He didn't know what he should do now. " But There's another way you and your dwarven friend can help. Someone must be found."
" Who?" He asked.
Hasmira handed him the flower then began to back away from him into the mist that began to rise and cover everything. Soon only an outline of her form could be seen.
" Find the missing one." He heard her say. " Find the ninth Eventide. Look in Fay Shrea."
And she was gone. Ryel sat up and threw off his blankets and looked around for Hasmira. There was no one there but Orek sleeping next to him It was all just a dream he thought relaxing. Then he looked down and found the same rainbow rose Hasmira had been holding laying in his lap.

Being the tracker and hunter he was, it wasn't hard for Braddoc to follow Adanar and Emrel's trail. They weren't being very careful so the trail stood out for him as if they had marked it. Unfortunately they weren't the only ones following it. He also found Elan and Aron's trail following them and something else. Goblins. And not just one or two.
" See how deep the tracks are?" Braddoc knelt and pointed out the many deep tracks covering the path. " Goblins are usually light on they're feet. Some of these are well armored and moving fast."
" How far ahead of us are they?" Toric asked from Starglow's back.
" I'd say more then six hours." He stood back up pointing southwest. " Heading that way."
" Then lets move." Morganz gripped the straps Braddoc had placed around his waist and held tight as they rushed down along the road.
" Toric." Ariel said from Denner's back next to him. " I'm worried. This close I should be able to reach them. Something is wrong."
" I agree." He called back. " There's some strange magic being used here. I wish Cutter or Eheren were with us. They might be able to do something."
[ Can you reach anyone from home?] Denner asked. [ I can't reach Jandar or Rage.or any of the dragons at home.]
In her mind Ariel called out to all of her brothers and sisters back at New Keanna. She tried Rose and the Shadows and everyone else she could think of in the city with no success. She then made a mental call out to Athene and Valkar. To Azeal and Tanis. No one answered her call.
" Nothing." She said. " I don't understand. I hear your mind and Toric and the others, but I can't get anyone else."
" It's got to be some of Tayor's magic." Morganz told them. " Damn that bastards heart! It's a very important part of warfare. Control your enemies communications and keep them confused. It's a very powerful tactic. One we'll have to find a way around it. I'm sure he has a way."
" Right now let's just get to Adanar and Emrel before it's to late." Ariel gripped Denners mane tightly as they rode.
They rode for hours deeper into Fay Shrea moving as fast as they could through the dark forest. They passed many empty villages as they rode. and some that weren't so empty. Any that were inhabited they avoided know there was no time right now for any battles or fighting. Toric notice something strange on their ride. There were no animals in the forest. Everything seemed to either be in hiding or avoiding them. Suddenly Starglow called an abrupt stop to their ride. He sensed something ahead.
" What is it?" Toric asked as the Airons sniffed at the air catching the scents around them. He became agitated and angrily stomping the ground.
[ There are Trolls ahead.] He told them. [ The scent is familiar and strong. They are enemies of my kind. They hunt us.]
" Can we go around then?" Braddoc pulling his bow from his side to be ready to fight.
[ No.] He answered. [ There are to many.]
" Then we fight." Morganz reached behind him and grabbed his sword and pulled it free. Denner rode up next to them with Ariel.
" Stay behind us Ariel." Morganz told her. " Your not armed. We'll protect you."
She laughed and climbed down off Denners back and stepped in front of them tying her hair back out of the way. Morganz looked at Toric who was smiling back at him.
" What is she doing?"
[ You forget who and what your cousin is Morganz?] Denner sent to him. [ She's Ariel the Storm dragon. One of the most powerful dragons of the clan. She doesn't need anyone's protection.]
" Do they know we're here?" She asked Starglow. The wind around her began to pick up and blow fiercely pushing the foliage of the forest around.
[ Yes. They move in to surround us now.]
" Everyone get off your mounts and ready." Toric jumped from Starglow's back and raised his hands ready to start blasting anything that came out at them. The ground began to tremble as thunderous footsteps began to echo threw the air. They could see trees come crashing down in the distance as the Trolls moved closer to them. Denner shifted shapes to be ready for the attack. He changed from his unicorn form to human, then shifted to something more fit for battle. He took on the form of a huge gargoyle with a great hulking form and slashing claws. It's wings bat like and held close to his body for battle. He pounded his fist, flexed and a growl from deep in his chest escaped.
Suddenly from their left two huge hair covered trolls came charging at them holding clubs ready to smash. The first troll lumbered down on Braddoc and Morganz swinging his club for the kill. Morganz dived to the side just in time and rolled across the ground. He leaped to his feet and ran at the Troll lashing at its legs. The troll howled in pain as Braddoc began pelting it with arrows. The second troll moved toward Ariel lifting its leg to kick at her.
" Ariel shift!!" Morganz yelled.
Light flashed in Ariel's eyes as she cast out her hand and sent a bolt of lightning at the troll. The bolt struck it in the chest and sent it flying back into the on coming rush of Trolls coming out of the forest. Denner speared his wings and leaped slashing at the grounded Trolls ripping and tearing into them. From the other side of Toric another group of Trolls broke through the trees and charged. Summoning his magic he sent bolt after bolt at them picking them off as they rushed at them. Starglow huffed, fire blowing from his nostrils. His mane and tail burst into flame and he turned red  as he charged into the fray with flaming hooves kicking out at any Trolls in his way. Soon magic was flying as the battle went on. Morganz and Braddoc fought like demons with swords and bow in close quarters. Ariel looked around as her lightning flashed down burning Trolls, she knew they couldn't keep this up for to long. They would have to get away from here and fast pretty soon or one of them would end up dead. In a flash she roared and shifted to full dragon and sent hurricane winds out at the Trolls knocking them back into the forest.
[ Morganz, Toric mount up and get moving.] She sent. [Denner and I will keep them busy while you go! Denner, shift to a fire dragon and we'll take them from the air.]
Ariel leaped into the sky still blasting lightning as Denner shifted into a small version of Rage and took to the air firing blasts of flame at the trolls. Braddoc and Starglow took off with their riders as the Trolls moved in to rally there forces and block the road to stop them.
[ Barrow through!!] Denner sent. Narrowing their wings the two dragons sped ahead of their friends blasting everything in front of them clearing a path for their companions to get away.
[ Keep moving.] Ariel sent from above. [ The Trolls can't follow. They don't move fast enough to keep up with us.]
[ We're going to have to fly out of here now.] Braddoc sent. [ We can't come back this way and it will take to long to get all the way through Fay Shrea.]
[ Then hurry and find my brother and sister.] She told Braddoc. [ Fay Shrea is to dangerous a place to be in for any of us.]
[ Don't worry.] He told her. [ I still have the trail. We're heading straight towards them. I just hope nothing else happens to get in our way.]
[ So do I my friend.]
